A raffle to support local foodbank, supported by the Omar Group, has enabled the lucky winner to enjoy the trip of a lifetime
Following a generous donation from one of its suppliers, Suffolk-based park home and luxury lodge manufacturer Omar Group waved one of its engineers off to enjoy some winter sun in Barbados. The decision was made to hold a raffle for the all-expenses paid holiday to team members, to raise money for local charity Thetford Foodbank. Omar Group then provided additional paid annual leave to the prize so the winner wouldn’t need to use up their annual holiday entitlement.
Thetford Foodbank, which runs a network of centres including Brandon, Thetford, Watton and Attleborough, distributes emergency food parcels to people referred to them for help. The charity also works alongside other professional services to provide people with additional avenues of support such as debt and money management and holiday clubs. Omar Group, a leading manufacturer of park homes and luxury lodges, is one of the largest employers in Brandon, where one of the charity’s centres is located. Team members were more than happy to delve deep into their pockets, spurred on by the possibility of winning a holiday in the sun, to support this fantastic charity.
Steph Williams from Thetford Foodbank was invited to Omar’s head office in Brandon to draw the lucky ticket, before being presented with a cheque for the money raised, which totalled £2,340. The lucky recipient of this fabulous prize was Omar Refurbishment Services’ engineer Barry Preston, who flew off to Barbados with his wife Clair at the beginning of December.
Omar chief executive, Graeme Craig, who presented the cheque to Steph Williams from Thetford Foodbank, along with executive PA, Kayleigh Lucas, commented: ‘The entire company was thrilled to support this fantastic local charity. We hope the funds the team have raised will go a long way to provide some much needed support to those that need it most; especially as the nights draw in and the temperatures drop.
