The Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Caravan Manufacturers’ Association (Hercma) has announced that the 2022 Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Expo will not take place.

The Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Expo will not take place next year, enabling the industry to focus on ‘pressing priorities’ during a time of continuing uncertainty, the show’s organiser has revealed.

The trade and public shows are organised by the Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire Caravan Manufacturers’ Association (Hercma) and had been due to take place in September 2022 at the Great Yorkshire Showground, in Harrogate (pictured).

However, Hercma has reluctantly decided it is most important for the industry to focus fully on addressing major opportunities and challenges, including the continuing need to increase production to meet unprecedented demand driven by the surge in staycations and to address ongoing supply chain pressures.

Hercma’s chairman, Richard Jones, said: ‘This is not a decision we have taken lightly, but we feel it is right that manufacturers are able to focus fully on these priority issues during as uncertain a time as we have ever experienced. The industry has seen remarkable growth in response to what we believe is a long-term market shift in favour of the great British staycation. However, this growth comes with its own challenges in the context of the well-publicised stresses and uncertainties affecting the UK economy.

‘We will consider the position of the Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Expo in 2023 as circumstances develop over coming months.’
