A number of mobile park homes on different parks all around the country are having additional thermal insulation added on top of their existing cladding. It is critical that the existing/original cladding is in good order before having this work carried out. Any moisture or deterioration in the cladding can lead to rot and damage to the structural timbers. We have identified a number of homes with this fault in recent weeks. Just because a contractor purports to be a specialist does not necessarily mean they are suitably qualified. We have been called to several homes where the home has been seriously structurally damaged by incompetent & unqualified contractors. Additional external insulation may also prevent windows and doors being replaced and can also block drainage vents in windows and doors.
Please have an independent inspection before you have any work carried out to ascertain the true structural condition of your home, otherwise you may be masking existing problems and creating greater ones in years to come. The other important consideration before investing in additional insulation, is how soon you will recoup your money in domestic fuel savings? If you have a satisfactory skirting around the bottom of your home providing protection from the elements to the underside of your home; it is likely that the factory installed insulation is sufficient. Additional underside insulation will provide a minute saving in heating costs. For a full, independent, comprehensive survey of your home and full colour report on the true condition of your home call Blue Chip Park Homes Ltd on the number above.

Homeseeker are manufacturers who are committed to looking after the environment and their customer’s pockets at the same time! A Homeseeker park home not only meets environmental standards but also the eco-needs of the park. From the recyclable steel of the chassis to the ‘forest-safe’ wood used in the construction, a Homeseeker park home is kind to the environment, so residents can relax and enjoy it. The solid, durable, all-steel chassis of a Homeseeker park home is made from recycled steel to preserve resources and lessen the impact of mining on the environment. Waste materials such as steel cans, appliances, automobiles and construction refuse are all fed back into the steel-making process before being cast into further useful steel objects. What’s more, our recycled steel can itself, be recycled again at the end of its long life. All flooring in a Homeseeker park home is insulated with fibreglass rolls that are free of harmful ozone-depleting CFCs and HCFCs (chlorofluorocarbons and hydrochlorofluorocarbons) in its manufacture or content and represent no known threat to the environment. As with all the timber used in the construction of a Homeseeker park home, all wooden roof structures are made from FSC-sourced wood as our walls which are also sealed with a durable, textured, protective coating. Furthermore, the floors in a Homeseeker park home are made from tempered hardboard and chipboard that is also sourced from FSC-approved sustainable forests. Our cavity flooring is insulated with high performance insulation and the cavity design keeps the pipe work within the heated envelope of the home. In addition all windows are PVCu double glazed and are A rated for additional thermal efficiencies. Furthermore, the glass-fibre wall insulation is a lightweight, eco-friendly solid glass-fibre insulation material that is made of 80% recycled glass with very low volatile compounds (VOC) levels. The long-life roof tiles contain 25% recycled materials and come with a 40 year guarantee.

Developed by NASA for the aero-space industry, hollow bubble technology is now used to combat heat loss and mould/mildew growth in park homes. This new material has found many applications from the oil industry to paint additives for roof coatings in hot climates and heat retention/mould control in temperate climates. Insulation of cold hand railing and high temperature process vessels.
Insulat-MT consists of minute inert hollow ceramic spheres. These hollow microspheres have a vacuum at the centre which reduce the transfer of heat through the paint. By reducing the heat transfer the surface temperature of the painted wall is increased by a couple of degrees and consequently condensation is greatly reduced or eliminated, without moisture mould and mildew cease to grow.
Insulat-MT is available in bottles for addition to any type of paint. Two bottles are required for 5L of paint. It mixes easily with the paint and is applied in the normal way by brush or roller. Two coats are recommended for the most effective thermal insulation and three coats for homes with condensation problems. Insulat-MT can save up to 10% on heating costs and at the same time prevents mould and mildew. The surface can be over-painted with another coat of standard emulsion without affecting the barrier.
Insulat-MT is available here in the UK from WTM Ltd.

Kick off those slippers! Cold floors and draughts are one of the most frequent sources of complaint for park home residents. Cold spells in the winter months can become challenging, uncomfortable and costly if warmth cannot be retained within the home. Its therefore important to address the underlying issues to fully benefit your home at its cosiest.
Often cold floors and draughts are due to inadequate or aged (degraded and shrunk) under floor insulation currently in place, in addition to the regulatory air gap between the skirting and sub frame to allow air flow underneath the home.
Park Home Chassis Services Ltd offer a bespoke and unique under floor insulation system that provides a fully bonded sealed insulation layer to eliminate all air gaps and from the cold to penetrate through the flooring. The products used within the system are sophisticated with excellent quality and performance. Customers are thrilled with the results and improved heat gain within their home – slippers are a thing of the past!
Not only is the home warmer, fuel bills and carbon footprint are improved. Contact them using the above details for full details of their high quality services.

Park Home Insulations
The Powerhouse, Duchy Road, Heathpark Industrial Estate, Honiton, EX14 1YD
T: 0800 3134559
Here’s how Park Home Insulations can help you save money on your heating bills: As the UK’s largest dedicated park home insulators, we offer the 5 degrees of comfort; external wall insulation, loft insulation, floor insulation, Eco Air Flow and Eco Boiler.
We always advise that external wall insulation on a park home should be priority when considering an insulation improvement, it is the largest mass area of heat loss on a park home, followed by loft and underfloor insulation. By installing all three measures creates the full envelope of insulation and dramatically reduces heat loss this is where you would expect to save up to 65% off your energy bills.
Park homes are a notoriously poorly insulated architectural type of construction will very little or in some cases no insulation in the narrow cavity of the substrate frame.
We fully appreciate that external wall insulation is considered a high cost but having said that it is an extremely worthy one, installing external wall insulation will not only save money on your heating bills up to £350 per year, but will also reduce the cost to maintaining your home, over a 10-year period this could be up to £250 a year in cutting out the need for remedial repairs and re-painting, creating up to as much as £600 in annual savings.

All the homes built with an average exterior thickness of 100mm insulation, ‘A’ rated appliances fitted wherever possible, energy efficient lightening fitted with the use of LEDs which are made from nontoxic materials and are also recyclable, named “Earth- Friendly”. Pathfinder Homes have been building park homes and Holiday lodges for over 50 years, becoming one of the leading manufacturers in the industry. They have perfected the ability to create homes that are warm in the winter and cool in the summer by improving our insulation and heat saving abilities. All Pathfinder Homes and lodges are built to British residential standards BS3632, which means all Pathfinder homes are built for people to live in, all year round. They even have a range of energy saving homes (highlighted on: www.pathfinderhomes.co.uk) which are at least 34% more energy efficient than the average home. It starts with the external walls, the most important to ensure the home is structurally sound but also to the highest standard for heat saving and residential standard insulation values. The external walls are approximately 6 inches thick with 100mm foil back insulation sandwiched between 12mm fireproofed plasterboard and 9mm waterproofed plywood, finished off with batons and canexcel or resitex. Along with standard central heating throughout, and the choice of underfloor heating, Pathfinder Homes will not be cold homes, constantly saving you money through the ever-lasting winters we have been experiencing. Also lodges are internally designed to create a cosy home feel with faux log burning stoves and extremely comfortable and deep sofas, creating a warm atmosphere wherever the location. Homes have a range of energy saving features giving an average U value of 0.27 compared to 0.50 which is the industry’s standard. Each energy saver home is inspected by an independent company which will provide an energy certificate and environmental statement on completion.
